The landscape for data and AI in Europe is rapidly evolving. The critical question remains: Are you prepared for exchanging data at scale?
On October 7 in Brussels, an exclusive, high-impact conference brought together leading voices from industry, research, and European institutions to tackle the business imperative of driving value from trusted data transactions and AI.
In a world increasingly driven by data, exchanging it while ensuring trust, traceability, interoperability, and sound business models is essential for growth. Attendees engaged with speakers who explored real business cases and offered deep insights into how new regulations—such as the Data Act and the AI Act—and the upcoming harmonised European Standard on Trusted Data Transactions, a cornerstone of the European Trusted Data Framework, will impact organizations.
Keynote introduction was given by Mr. Bjoern Juretzki, Head of Unit Data Policy & Innovation at the European Commission.

On July 1st 2025, the European Commission has published a Standardization Request for harmonised European Standards (hEN) on Trusted Data Transaction, as regards the European Trusted Data Framework, which also includes requests for other European standards and European standardisation deliverables.
The Trusted Data Transaction pre-standardization initiative, was launched in 2023 by Dawex, Fraunhofer ISST, and TNO, and thrived the collaborative efforts of key stakeholders, including the European Commission, Gaia-X, IDSA, BDVA, Fiware Foundation, iSHARE, Microsoft, Airbus, EDF, Hub One, Prometheus-X, Data Spaces Support Center (DSSC), SQS and Connekt.
Trusted Data Transaction is an important pre-standardization initiative. Its deliverables - CWA Part 1 and CWA Part 2 - serve as direct inputs to CEN JTC25, Working Group 2, for the drafting of harmonised European Standards (hEN) on Trusted Data Transactions, requested by the European Commission and linked to the Article 33 of the Data Act.
The CEN Workshop on Trusted Data Transaction therefore contributes to the building of the EU Trusted Data Framework, one of the top three policy priorities in the 2024 annual Union work programme for European standardization.
